Raw Materials of Tums
There is a long process while forming the raw materials into tums tablets, therefore starting at the bottom of the process, the tums start with raw resources which are bulk sugar and bulk calcium. The main raw materials and what tums are mainly made of are sugar, calcium and starch.
Resource Extraction of Tums
As you know tums tablets are mainly made of calcium carbonate. To get calcium carbonate, mining or quarrying is required but pure calcium carbonate can be made from a pure quarried source such as marble, etc.
Materials Processing of Tums
Starting with the raw materials, which are the bulk sugar, bulk calcium and the starch, the combination is to be blended all together and granulated and made into a form of a tablet. The raw ingredients enter into the tablet forming machines which does most of the work to create tums.
Packaging of Tums
Afterwards, the tablets are packaged either into a Tums bottle with quantity varying from 750mg to 1000mg, single rolls or rolls of 3. There are also many different types and forms of tums that are packaged into different packages such as plastic bags. The tablets are air blasted through tubes that connects to the machines where the bottles are filled up with the exact amount of tablets. There are also machines that roll and attach the caps onto the bottles while the bottles are moving along the conveyor belt. Then the bottles are placed into boxes and are stacked up evenly and loaded by robot arms. The boxes are stacked and moved to a machine that wraps plastic packaging to keep the boxes together and are shipped.
